Avoiding the summer break slide
The last school bells will ring on Tuesday, and Lincoln Parish parents will be tasked with making sure their children don’t forget everything they’ve learned in the last nine months.
Superintendent of Schools Danny Bell said children’s minds need to be stimulated throughout the summer to make sure they don’t fall behind.
“One study by the U.S. Department of Education said that children regress, losing 25 percent of their reading skills during the summer months,” Bell said. “We find similar regression in math during the summer.”
