Turfplaning project will have Cougars’ surface in tip-top shape

Cedar Creek High’s football field recently underwent a process called turfplaning that will make the playing surface more adaptable to weather conditions and drainage. Helping Alternative Turfplaner of New Roads at the Cougars’ site were (top photo, from left) Cary Johnson, executive manager of service operations. During the memorable “monsoon” football season of 2009, hardly a Friday night went by when Cedar Creek High or another North Louisiana-based team was taking a “mud bath” on a rain-pelted field.

The turf at Cougar Stadium certainly got a wet workout, among the more notable occasions being against Delhi in which the sloshing sound of cleats and coaches’ boots became as prevalent as fans and cheerleaders yelling their teams on to a victory.

With so much rain over the course of the entire season, drainage woes on the field became as difficult to slow down as a fleet-footed running back.
