Remembering fathers brings nostalgia for lessons learned
Father’s Day! I always love it, because it gives me an opportunity to extol the virtues of my own special dad. I never run out of tales to tell about him. Seriously, folks, if you had a great dad, is there ever enough good things you can say about yours?
Bill Rogers once called my dad a Ruston icon. He may have forgotten saying that, but I never shall. It was so true. He loved the town more than most, I believe. And he loved Temple Church most of all, possibly, but the town’s citizens were his friends — his extended family. I know for a fact that is how I came to treasure the townspeople as I do to this day. Ruston will always be my home.
