School board votes to join lawsuit

Officials: Local tax money to be used for nonpublic schools

The Lincoln Parish School Board is speaking out against the state’s new voucher program, which would permit taxpayer money to be used for private school tuition.

The board will be joining the state school board organization in a lawsuit against laws approved during the 2012 Regular Session of the Legislature.

In a near unanimous vote on Thursday afternoon, during which District 7 Representative Trott Hunt was the only “no” vote, the school board approved a resolution to join the Louisiana School Board Association’s lawsuit opposing Act 2 and Senate Concurrent Resolution 99.
