As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, I am reminded of something that has bothered me since 2009. In April 2009, President Obama said that we do not consider ourselves to be a Christian nation, or a Jewish nation, or a Muslim nation, but we consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values. (Fox News Media — April 8-9, 2009)
I disagree with our president on several points. First, we are a Christian nation. A study of the beginning of this nation makes that clear. Secondly, we are a nation of citizens that are bound by ideals and a set of values, but those ideals and values are based on the principles of the Bible. The United States of America has always been a Christian nation blessed by the God of the Bible.
