State budget cuts to have minimal effect on library
State funding to libraries in Louisiana will take an almost $1 million hit this fiscal year.
However, the impact to the Lincoln Parish Library is expected to be minimal at this time.
This is because state funding makes up less than one percent of the budget, with the rest funded by a local property tax and grants, said Library Director Vivian McCain.
She added the local library is expected to receive about $11,000 less this year in state aid.
“State aid when I first came here about seven years ago was in the neighborhood of about $45,000, and it has steadily dwindled,” McCain said.
