Reflecting on Aurora tragedy

Where are we? How did we get here?  Where are we headed?     

Many of us became physically ill, literally becoming nauseated, with the revelation of a recent news event. “Upbeat, cheerful, positive” — these are words that form the basic goal for most of my written visits with you. There is enough “bad” or “sad” news from other sources. 

Yet after the events at the movie theater in Aurora, Colo., I feel compelled to address some of the discussion flowing from that tragedy.
