State sales tax holiday nears

Just like “Black Friday” and after Christmas sales, in recent years the State of Louisiana has come up with its own annual big savings weekend devoted to giving shoppers their purchase state sales tax free.

This year, the Louisiana Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, and anyone out shopping will be given an exemption from state sales tax on the first $2,500 of the purchase price of most individual items for personal use. With hunting season and a new school year just around the corner, area residents may need to take advantage of the tax break to save some cash.
