Northern Louisiana Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose x-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.
Area residents who are interested in serving on one of several local volunteer boards or commissions might soon have their chance.
Lincoln Parish Police Jurors appoint community members to various boards. Among these groups are the Library Board of Control, various waterworks districts, Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District, Northeast Delta Human Services Authority, Lincoln Health Foundation, Lincoln Parish Fire Training Center Commission, Sparta Groundwater Conservation District and the Lincoln Parish Exhibition Center Commission.
“Pink Day” has become an annual October celebration at Downsville Charter School. This year’s celebration was led by the DCS Future Business Leaders of America members and the DCS Parent Teacher Organization to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of Northeast Louisiana. On Oct. 30, the school held a pink balloon release on the baseball field. DCS faculty, staff, cafeteria workers, students K-12, Downsville community members and breast cancer survivors were all in attendance.
