CHOUDRANT — In September, Choudrant residents will feel a little extra tug on their wallets as water rates are slated to rise.
At Monday night’s regular meeting, Choudrant aldermen voted unanimously to pass Ordinance No. 117 to provide for water rate changes. Both initial deposits and the actual water rate increased with the ordinance.
The new deposit amount is based on meter size, whereas currently it is a flat $40 fee. Beginning Sept. 1 deposits on three-quarter inch and one inch meters will be $50 for owner occupied structures and $100 for non-owner occupied structures. For meters two inches or larger the deposit will cost $100 for owner occupied structures and $150 for non-owner occupied structures.
