Every year, on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, A.E. Phillips Elementary takes a few moments to remember those lost and to honor local first responders.

Each year, the school invites local first responders to the school to hear patriotic songs. Each agency, which typically includes the Ruston Police Department, the Ruston Fire Department, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Tech University Police, receives a banner to honor their service to the school and the community.
