Mary Claire Bryant Simpson
Mary Claire Bryant Simpson, age 96 of Ruston, died Friday September 14, 2012. Mimi - as she was known to family - was born August 30, 1916. Services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday September 17, 2012 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until service time. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston. Rev. Larry Emory and Rev. Drew Spillers will officiate the service.
Mrs. Simpson was life-long resident of Ruston and was retired from Ruston State Bank where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many, many years. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her grandson, Dane Doucet and wife Brandi and great grandchildren: Gage Landry Doucet and Mabry Claire Doucet (her namesake) all of Ruston, La. Her daughter-in-law: Bettye Doucet-Collins and husband Russell of Choudrant, LA; sister: Martha B. Thorton of Plainview, AR; nephews: Brooks Bryant, Jr. and wife Peggy of Ruston; Jimmy Bryant and wife Sue of Minden; Quinn Thorton and wife Sissy of Conway, AR; Danny Thorton and wife Donna of Plainview, AR; nieces: Gloria Dean Shelby of Pineville, LA; Dorothy Bauman and husband Lenny of Little Rock, AR; Mary Lou Bland and husband Mike of Little Rock, AR; step-sons: Gordon Price and Joseph Price both from Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents: Nancy Richardson Bryant and Harris Bryant; husband James A. Simpson; son: E.J. Doucet; grandson: Douglas Doucet; brothers: Brooks Bryant, Sr. and wife Deena, Tommy Bryant and wife Elizabeth; step-son: James A Price.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Simpson, Tommy Scroggins, David Kirkham, Gordon Price, Edwin Edgerton, and Brooks Bryant, Jr.
Her family would like to express deepest gratitude and love to nurses Jenene Wilson, Vicki Fincher and Megan Clark of Ruston Rehabilitation.
