The great electric car debate rolls on. Everyone has his or her own opinion.

Reuters recently came out and accused General Motors of selling its Chevrolet Volt at a sticker price of $40,000, while the car reportedly cost anywhere from $56,000 to $89,000 to manufacture. According to this report, GM is offering a monthly financing deal for the Volt that is generally reserved for $15,000 automobiles. Reuters says that through August, 13,500 had sold, well behind the 40,000 units GM hoped to move in 2012.
