Rewind to Ruston of the &#39;80s
I think this early intermingling of different races was positive for all groups of students. It gave children a chance to form friendships with youngsters from various backgrounds before media or adults could influence their perceptions of other races.
Also in this decade, students could come to school in dotted stretch pants under a plaid skirt if they so desired. We didn’t have school uniforms, and dress codes weren’t that strict.
