October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

As October arrives, it brings with it the dramatic colors of autumn, falling leaves, pumpkins and — if we are lucky — sweater weather.

It also ushers in Domestic Violence Awareness Month. All over the country, communities, organizations and schools will be hosting awareness events. Groups will hold plays and art exhibits, performances and vigils, all devoted to increasing our awareness of this dangerous, disheartening, family-shattering and sometimes fatal issue. I have spent some time researching domestic violence recently, for various speeches and presentations given by DART.
