I was either in high school or college the first time I learned of a local woman dying from breast cancer. It was a shock. Until that point, my assumption had been that the condition was not fatal.

Years passed, and I heard of a few more lives lost to breast cancer. The seriousness of the condition became clear, and a fear began to grow of being diagnosed with it myself.

A couple of years ago, I attended a seminar where a medical doctor provided some pretty disturbing information about risks for breast cancer. It was very surprising to discover some things that were linked with this dreaded condition.
