Guillot, Nelson exchange vows
Katie Elizabeth Guillot, of Ruston, and Brian Christopher Nelson, of Dallas, Texas, were united in matrimony during a 6 p.m. ceremony Oct. 27 at Trinity United Methodist Church. The ceremony was officiated by Andy Hurst, of Lubbock, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Jay and Susan Guillot, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sanders, of Ruston, Emily Guillot, of Ruston, and the late Earl Guillot Sr.
The groom is the son of O.B. and Julie Nelson. He is the grandson of Jay Nelson, of West Bend, Wis., Obert B. Fladeland, of Wichita, Kan., and the late Rose Perpich Fladeland.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an ivory silk dupioni gown by Maggie Sottero. The gown featured a strapless sweetheart neckline and an asymmetrical rouched bodice that flowed into a chapel length train. The double layer fingertip veil was edged in silver beads and seed pearls. The bride carried ivory garden roses, flora-bunda roses, white chocolate roses, white hydrangeas, white stock, freesia hand tied and simply wrapped with ivory dupioni silk.
Serving as maid of honor was Maggie Layne Guillot, of Ruston, while Kristen Guillot Michael, of Shreveport, served as the matron of honor. Holly Foster, of Birmingham, Ala.,Kristi Lachowsky, of New Boston, Texas, Grace Murphy, of Shreveport, Kathryn Nelson, of Dallas, Texas, and Maggie Voorhees, of Ruston, served as bridesmaids.
The bridesmaids wore gowns of navy chiffon by Bill Levkoff. The gowns featured a strapless empire bodice of diagonal pleating with chiffon skirt. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of mother of pearl roses, pink stock, ivory flora-bunda roses, heather and cymbidium orchids hand tied with ivory dupioni silk.
O.B. Nelson, of Dallas, served as the best man. Serving as groomsmen were Gary Coffman, Chris Kejechian and Connor Patman, all of Dallas; J.T. McPherson and Joe Williams, both of Addison, Texas; and Will Michael, of Shreveport.
Kevin Conner, of Chicago, Ill., and Alan Vojtech, of Dallas, served as ushers.
Prior to the ceremony, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Squire Creek Country Club on Oct. 26.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Squire Creek Country Club with music provided by The Caravan Band.
Various parties and socials were hosted in honor of the couple leading up to their nuptials.
On July 28, an engagement celebration was given at the Red Draw Ranch in Edwards, Colo., by Julie and O.B. Nelson.
On Aug. 25, an engagement party was given at the Squire Creek Country Club Pool and was hosted by Nancy and Bill McIntyre, Beth and Tommy Rogers, Karen and Trott Hunt, Lee and Fred Sutton, Tisdale and Kyle McDonald, Anne and Jim Hough, Anita and Neal Walpole, Becky and Danny Craword, Sally and Randy Graham and Carolyn and Don McGehee.
A miscellaneous shower was given Sept. 15 at the home of Rachel Barmore. Marty Alsup, Rachel Barmore, Alnita Carroll, Lisa Barr, Yvette Broocks, Sheryl Durrett, Deborah Kincannon, Nancy Knox and Ann White hosted the event.
On Sept. 15, a couples party was given at the home of Matt and Maggie Voorhees. Hosting the event were Gil and Melinda Dowies, Joe Ellis and Venetia Michael and Matt and Maggie Voorhees.
On Oct. 13, the couple celebrated with a honey-do shower in Dallas, Texas. Hosting the event were Kathryn Nelson and Alan Vojtech.
A bridesmaids’ luncheon was held Oct. 26 at the home of Lynda Steed, the bride’s aunt. Cindy Clark, Frances Johnson, Valerie Spikes, April Straight and Lynda Steed hosted the event.
After a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple will make their home in Dallas, Texas.
