DART remembers victims of domestic abuse

The meeting room at the Lincoln Parish Library was overflowing with community members on Tuesday night who sought to recognize those lost in the fight against domestic violence in the area.

Terrie Queen Autrey, one of the founders of the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team and current community advocate, said that 12 years ago when DART first began displaying silhouettes representing those who have died as a result of domestic violence, there were only eight silhouettes. Today, there are 30 silhouettes, which represent 25 women one man and four children who have died as a result of domestic violence in the parishes that DART serves, which include Lincoln, Jackson, Union, Claiborne and Bienville.
