Though it’s not quite time to throw a victory pool party, preliminary reports indicate that the Sparta Aquifer is doing better.

The 2010 preliminary water use report from the U.S. Geological Survey Water Resources Cooperative Program reveals that water usage was down by approximately 4.87 million gallons per day in 2010 from 2005, the previous reporting year. That places total water usage at 63.11 million gallons per day, which is still more than 11 million gallons above the sustainable level of 52 million gallons per day.
