Funeral services will be held for Rev. James H. Humphreys, at the First United Methodist Church Homer on November 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ed Frankie, Rev. R.B. Moore and Rev. Larry Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Rev. Humphreys was born January 6, 1937 in Moultrie, Ga. to James T. and Evelyn Cross Humphreys. He entered into rest Saturday, November 10, 2012 following a long illness.

Rev. Humphreys graduated from Georgia Tech in Textile engineering. He served as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army Chemical Corp. He graduated from Emory University - Candler School of Theology, and was ordained as a United Methodist Minister being assigned to the Louisiana United Methodist Conference to begin his ministerial appointments in 1963.

Rev. Humphreys served on the staff of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, Haughton, Bethel – Magnolia Near Baton Rouge, Grace in Ruston, Homer, Wesley Chapel, Memorial in Opelousas, St. Luke – Simpson in Lake Charles and in retirement, the associate pastor at First United Methodist Church, Lake Charles. Rev. Humphreys served as an active and retired minister for 41 years.

Rev. Humphreys was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother Rev. Charles Burney Humphreys and his wife Glenda Humphreys.

He is survived by wife of 49 years, Martha Sue Sanders Humphreys of Homer, a son Jeffrey Warren Humphreys and wife Caron Flynn Humphreys and their son Connor Flynn Humphreys of Homer, a daughter Mindy Anne Humphreys Edmonds and her son Noah Drake Edmonds.

Pallbearers will be Bo Blackwood, Billy Frye, Ryan Harmon, Ken Kirspel, Norman Murphy and Tony Sanders.

Honorary pallbearer will be Mr. Doug McKenzie.
