Funeral services for Rev. James Freeman Taylor, age 95, of Ruston, LA will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 17 at the Cross Point Church in Madison, AL. Officiating will be Rev. John Dees, the Church’s Pastor.

Rev. Taylor was born on March 21, 1917, in Phoenix City, Alabama. He went home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 12. 2012.

Rev Taylor is preceded in death by his parents James Author Taylor and Caroline Rosalind Avarit Taylor, wife, Sarah Finney Taylor, daughter, Carolyn Susan Taylor Haley. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Brewer, sons, James Freeman Taylor, Jr. and William R. Taylor, and his 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He grew up in Macon, Georgia where he met Sarah Elizabeth Finny his wife of 57 years. He worked as a linotype operator until he was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister in 1950 and became the pastor of the Green Springs Baptist Church in Birmingham. Alabama. In 1953, he moved his family to Buford, South Carolina and became the pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. After retiring he moved to Ruston, La. to be close to his daughter, the late Carolyn Susan Haley.

Rev. Taylor is a member of First Baptist Church of Ruston.

Interment will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 1, in the Pines Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ruston, LA, where Rev. Taylor will take his place beside his wife. Dr. Chris Craig, Senior Pastor, and Dr. Andrew Johnson. Senior Adult Pastor Emeritus, of the First Baptist Church of Ruston will preside over the service at the grave site.

The family wishes to thank the kind people at Willow Ridge Nursing Home (DON Kathy Hall) and Professional Hospice Care for their special care of Rev. Taylor.
