Artist revels in found objects
Matthew Knopps finds the inspiration for his art in places that most people wouldn’t even look.
A fascination with found objects — such as spam messages, advertisements and random objects — have long been what fueled his creativity.
“If you went to my yard or one of my grandparents’ houses when I was growing up, it’d look like one of the yards they’d pick through in ‘American Pickers,’” Knopps said. “When the kids were out playing, I’d be trying to put things together. There’s a bedsprings and thing and stick. I’d put these weird things together and make up little characters or stories or ideas. I was always fueled to do it because there was so much around me.”
