Submitted photo Weyerhaeuser Foundation representative, Jedd Lewis, visits with Louvenia Williams, of Ruston. Williams has Bernard-Soulier Syndrome, a rare blood disease requiring blood provided by LifeShare’s Immunohematology Reference Laboratory. Weyerhaeuser Foundation contributed $20,000 to purchase new liquid nitrogen storage tanks to efficiently and safely preserve the rare, irreplaceable collection. Williams personally thanked Lewis and Weyerhaeuser for their support, saying without blood donors and LifeShare’s services she wouldn’t be here today. She has routinely received blood for more than 65 years.

Weyerhaeuser Foundation was recognized by LifeShare Blood Centers for their $20,000 contribution to protect and preserve one of the world’s largest collections of rare red blood cell samples. LifeShare Blood Centers is the steward of the rare collection that it uses in blood compatibility testing for hospitals and blood centers worldwide.
