GSU, Southern ‘break bread’ before big game

On Saturday, Grambling State University and Southern University came together for the annual Bayou Classic Coaches’ Luncheon to talk a little trash before the big game, but more to recognize top performers.

The U.S. Marine Corps honors one outstanding student athlete from Grambling State and one from Southern each year. Recipients must exemplify the Corps’ 14 leadership traits, including respect, confidence and loyal cooperation.

Fabian Carter, Grambling’s senior punter, and Christopher Browne, Southern’s left tackle, were recognized with the “Excellence in Leadership” award.
