NEW ORLEANS — Too much Joseph Dray.

That wound up being the problem for Grambling State University in the annual Bayou Classic at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Saturday.

Dray threw for five touchdowns, as Southern University overcame an early deficit and held on late to get past longtime rival Grambling State 38-33.

Grambling had an 18-point defict (38-20) early in the fourth quarter, but trimmed Southern’s lead down with two touchdowns. The Tigers reached Southern’s 41-yard line in the final seconds, but quarterback Frank Rivers was sacked and fumbled to end the game.
