‘Whit’ comes to aid of Bengals’ quarterback

Former West Monroe High/LSU offensive line star Andrew Whitworth (right) quickly came to the defense of quarterback Andy Dalton during the Cincinnati Bengals’ Sunday victory over the Oakland Raiders. In this particular photo, an in-game tussle was a long thought away for “Big Whit” and ex-TCU standout Dalton. They were exchanging high fives during a golf scramble at the Squire Creek High course in Choudrant earlier this year.

Sunday’s NFL matchup of the Cincinnati Bengals and Oakland Raiders provided perfect evidence of why Andrew Whitworth makes my All-Bodyguard Team.

Yep, if I had to choose five current or former athletes I’ve covered who I would want covering my back, “Big Whit” definitely makes the cut.

You probably either saw the Bengals-Raiders game live on television or checked out a replay of the mano-mano skirmish between Whitworth and Oakland defensive lineman Lamarr Houston.
