Barbara Ann Blunk, age 88, stepped in to the arms of Jesus at home with family in Ruston, Louisiana on November 25, 2012 after a brief illness.

She was born January 19, 1924 in Los Angeles, California to Albert Ferdinand and Alice Irene Crookston Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Chester Blunk, a son, Timothy Blunk, a daughter, Martha Blunk, and a grandson, Kyle Blunk.

She is survived by her children Chris Blunk of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Bob Blunk and wife Darlene of Tuscon, Arizona, Jon Blunk and wife Jan of Greenbriar, Arkansas, Lucy Douglas and husband Jerry of Ruston, and Philip Blunk and wife Sherri of Little Rock, Arkansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Barbara, Anna, Sam, Bethanee, Kerry, Leah, Emery, Will, Raine, Austin, Brannon, Eden, and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to being a stay at home mother and wife, Barbara was a Registered Nurse and worked in the Newborn Nursery for many years at Doctor’s Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She was a long-time resident of Little Rock and moved to Ruston in 2007. She was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother with a sweet and gentle spirit and will be dearly missed.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jake Wood and the staff of Professional Hospice Care who provided excellent and compassionate care to our mother during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 1:00 pm at South Parkway Church, 3000 S. Vienna, Ruston, LA.
