Weighing in on saggy pants
GRAMBLING — For the City of Grambling, the issue of whether sagging pants is a statement of personal style or a finable public nuisance will have to wait a little while longer to be settled as the aldermen voted to postpone a public hearing and vote on the matter until February.
During the Dec. 6 regularly scheduled meeting, the councilmen and women voted to introduce an ordinance to provide for the crime of indecent exposure/sagging and establish penalties for violations thereof. After a brief discussion, the aldermen decided to wait to hold a public hearing at 5 p.m. Feb. 7 in order to allow the students at Grambling State University a chance to voice their concerns. Students will still be on semester break during the regularly scheduled January meeting. If passed, those exposing their undergarments will be subject to fines or jail time if found to be in violation of the ordinance.
