School News: RUSTON JUNIOR HIGH
Teacher of the Year
Shelli Quayhagen, a Northwestern State University graduate, from Many, has been named RJHS Teacher of the Year for the 2012 – 2013 school year. This is Shelli’s 32nd year in a teaching career that has included fourth through eighth grades, all middle school core subjects and three years in administration. Shelli has also taught in north, central and south Louisiana, but she and her husband, James, moved to Ruston in 2009 in anticipation of eventually retiring in “the best small town in Lousiana.” Their daughter, Katherine, serves in the Peace Corps.
“I never wanted to do anything but teach school,” Shelli said. “And I love it as much today as when I started. I have been blessed through my career to work with wonderful faculty, staff, students and parents and those at Ruston Junior High are the icing on the cake. I am so proud of our school. We are the Bearkits!”
