Louisiana Tech University’s basketball Bulldogs know exactly how they would like to welcome in the new year.

Easy answer: knock off preseason Western Athletic Conference favorite New Mexico State (6-7,0-1) at the Thomas Assembly Center tonight.

The rare New Year’s Eve meeting is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff on the Karl Malone Court, where the Bulldogs (10-3, 1-0) were a 68-60 winner over the University of Denver in a league opener on Saturday night.

That was a good win for Head Coach Michael White and his young and scrappy squad.
