From start to finish, university dominated parish calendar

Photo by TOM MORRIS/latechsportspix.com Quarterback Colby Cameron had a big year of honors for a Louisiana Tech University team that won nine games and ranked high in several national statistical departments. The senior from Newbury Park, Calif., set an NCAA record for most passes attempted (444) without an interception, was named as the Sammy Baugh Award recipient and chosen as the Offensive Player of the Year for the Western Athletic Conference and state.

Louisiana Tech University was a year-long headline for sports in Lincoln Parish for 2012.
From the time the year began until the final weeks of December, every week seemed to include Tech Nation on the radar of fans, media and Arguably, it just might have been the most news-filled 12 months of sports happenings in the university’s history.
Coaching changes, success on the playing fields, national awards and a transition to a new conference.

And, unfortunately, there was also sadness.

In the year of 2012, Tech was a big sports story waiting to happen.
