Residents are invited to join the Family Counseling Center for a new series of parenting classes. Not typical parenting classes, this is more a support group for parents dealing with the challenges of parenting today. The class is designed to train parents in a method of communicating with their children. The class allows parents to re-enter the world of play, a child’s natural means of emotional communication, resulting in more appropriate behavior and a better parent-child relationship. There are two options for the classes. Parents can either meet from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Jan. 23 and 30 and Feb. 6 and 13 or from 5:30-7 p.m. Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, 12 and 19. Space is limited, so interested parents must call to reserve a spot at 255-5753. The facilitator of the class will be Dr. Judy Crow, LPC and registered play therapist-supervisor.
