Current, anticipated cuts threaten DART

Positions eliminated; advocates criticize new victim shelter model

The Domestic Abuse Resistance Team is cutting expenses and reducing some services after being hit with a midyear state budget cut.

Terrie Queen Autrey, DART community advocate, said domestic violence programs under the state Division of Child and Family Services were cut 21.2 percent, or almost a million dollars.
What this means locally is that instead of getting the full $400,000 in state funding for the fiscal year from July 2012 to June 2013, DART will receive $63,000 less.
