The Lincoln Parish Tax Assessor’s Office is working to correct a situation where homestead exemption continues to be claimed on dozens of local homes where the owners appear to be deceased.

Louisiana property owners can claim homestead exemption for property taxes on the first $75,000 of their property if they both own and live in the home. Even if a resident owns multiple homes in the state, homestead exemption can only be claimed on one of them.
