Anyone who watched Louisiana Tech University play Nevada in Western Athletic Conference action the past several years shouldn’t be surprised at the success former Wolfpack quarterback Colin Kaepernick (10) is enjoying with the San Francisco 49ers this season. Kaepernick’s run/pass skills gave the Bulldogs and other opposing defense plenty of headaches during his All-WAC career.

The Western Athletic Conference’s football life is on its last breath.

There won’t be that wide-ranging league as we know it, thanks to a mass exodus of members and rearranging of the NCAA’s landscape in the past year.

But this conference isn’t exiting just yet without enjoying some major attention from the national media.
