A car fire spread to a home on Gilman Street on Tuesday morning.

Residents at a Ruston home were surprised to see flames coming from a vehicle under the carport, as a car fire spread into a home located at 109 Gilman at approximately 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.

“A Grambling State University student was on his way to class when he saw smoke and flames coming from an early 2000 model Chevy Impala. He turned around and alerted the occupants of the home,” Eric Brazzel, public education officer with the Ruston Fire Department said.
