Fresh on the heels of a difficult vote on tax rates on the last day of the last Congress, when our Representative Rodney Alexander was the only Louisiana Republican congressman voting for the tax increase bill, the new Congress took up the issue of the Hurricane Sandy relief bill.
Initially the House Republicans stripped most of the pork included in the Senate bill and tried to get a version passed in the House which focused just on emergency relief for Sandy and which included cuts elsewhere so that the bill would not increase the ballooning deficit.
