Glen View Elementary kindergartners Amorah Boston and Ty’Rhon Roane work on a KidSmart Early Learning Center.

Kindergarten students at Glen View and Hillcrest Elementary schools will have something to smile about when they head to the library at their schools thanks to a donation by IBM.

Both schools received a Young Explorer unit, a computer housed in brightly-colored, kid-sized Little Tikes furniture and equipped with award-winning educational software, designed to help students learn to read, while exploring concepts in math, science and language. The computer centers, which cost approximately $31,000, can also help children learn socialization and collaborative learning skills, such as how to work together to solve problems and sharing.
