Right now is a good time to fertilize trees

Trees in their native, undisturbed habitat are supplied with nutrients yearly by the decomposition of organic matter which has covered the forest floor.  In landscape situations, the natural accumulation of fallen leaves and limbs are usually removed and soil conditions are disturbed and imbalanced. Periodic supplemental fertilization is necessary to keep tree healthy, yearly fertilization is not recommended. Trees should be fertilized when:
•  Leaves are abnormal in size, shape and color
