A.E. Phillips fifth-grader Da’mon Moreland is not a statistic. None of our children should be.
But in a changing society, children sometimes get shortchanged. In many families, both parents work long hours, or there is only one parent or guardian in the home.

Oftentimes, youth just need a little extra adult supervision and guidance when other obligations keep parents from being there as often as they would like. Children need adults to make sure they do their homework, teach them social skills and help them stay active.
