For Brad Laird, the coaching “itch” just wouldn’t go away.

Oh, he thought it might, but who’s kidding who, right?

His DNA wouldn’t allow it.

The son of Billy Laird, who had logged a plethora of seasons as a football coach at the prep and college level, probably realized deep down that he would have to scratch that “itch” sooner or later and return to the sidelines.

On Wednesday morning, he did.
