BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Quartermiler Akeem Williams and the distance medley relay team helped lead Grambling State University’s men to a No. 2 finish at the 2013 Southwestern Athletic Conference indoor track and field championship meet that concluded Sunday afternoon at the Birmingham Complex.

The Tigers finished with 89 points to place behind champion Prairie View A&M, which totaled 132 points.

In the women’s division, Grambling finished No. 9 out of the nine participating schools with 10 points.

Williams was the champion of the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.33.
