Mock crash designed to sway students from drinking, driving

Emergency personnel, including firefighters using the “Jaws of Life” work the scene of a mock vehicular accident Thursday at Ruston High School. The scenario was designed to make RHS students aware of the dangers of drinking and driving.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, Ruston High School students received a “War and Peace” sized lesson Thursday.

RHS juniors and seniors viewed a vehicle mock crash put on by the school’s “Get Out There” team that was aimed at making them think twice about drinking and driving during upcoming prom celebrations.

Shattered glass, dangerous shards of metal and empty beer cans littered the ground as a girl lay motionless between a wrecked truck and car while a young man lay face down on the hood of the car, his body sticking through the vehicle’s broken windshield.
