Funeral Services for Marjorie Gullatt Barnes, 89 of Ruston, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Lipe officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Ruston to Sam and Ruby Gullatt. She died March 16, 2013, in her home in Ruston. Mrs. Barnes was a kindergarten teacher at Cypress Springs Elementary School for many years. She delighted in teaching her young students and was always discovering new, exciting things to inspire them-songs, books, games-she always made learning a joy. She was also a member of the Litera Club, loved singing in her church choir, and was always lending a hand to those in need.

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Oscar P Barnes, Jr. She is survived by her son Oscar P. Barnes, III and wife Gaye Nell of Monroe; daughters Nancy Ann Barnes Semones and husband Dan of Zachary, LA and Mary Virginia Barnes Poffenberger and husband Mike of Tomball, TX; grandchildren Jenny Stacey and husband George, Price Barnes and wife Christie, Bradley E. Davis and wife Rachael, Marjorie Helen Roscoe and husband Chane, Sarah Katherine Wyse and husband Jed, Bryant Poffenberger and Leah Poffenberger; great grandchildren: Mae Stacey, Barnes Stacey, Margaret Stacey, Felix Barnes, Bradley Walter Davis, Ethan Rascoe and Aden Rascoe; sister: Elizabeth Sehon, and brothers: John Gullatt and Ben Gullatt.
