Labor union activist
Grambling’s Shirley Bradford Wesley has always stood tall for what she believes in.
Her family, her friends, her town and her alma mater — they all know of Bradford’s knack for jumping into action and doing whatever it takes to help.
Those efforts were recognized last month as Bradford was inducted into the Louisiana AFL-CIO Hall of Fame in Baton Rouge.
Since its inception in 1956, Wesley has worked with the Grambling State Local Union 886, of which she is a charter member. She served as its third president, taking the helm in 1992 and serving until her retirement from GSU in 1999.
