DART prepares to speak out
As our state legislators return to Baton Rouge this month, one of their first tasks is to review and hear public testimony on the proposed budget. This is the budget that cuts funding to domestic violence programs by another $1.4 million, bringing our total cuts to $2.4 million since last July.
Remember what those figures mean for the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team?
In Gov. Bobby Jindal’s midyear budget cuts in December, we lost $63,000. As a result, we were forced to let two of our staff members go, and we cut costs in several other areas.
