527th Battalion to return home
“I’m happy,” Margaret Aycock, wife of the group’s commanding officer, David Aycock, said. “They’re a lot closer to home now, a whole lot closer to home.”
The families of the 527th were recently informed the 205th Battalion, out of Bogalusa, mobilized on July 7 and reported to Fort Polk on July 10.
The 205th will stay at Fort Polk until they are trained, then the troops will leave for Afghanistan and replace the 527th, Margaret Aycock said.
Training for the 205th Battalion could take from two to four weeks or longer.
