Hico brothers honored in Washington D.C.

In successive years, 2003 and 2004, Jacob and Jessie Joyner, fourth and fifth grade students at Hico Elementary, were each named Lincoln Parish Scholar of the Year and each won national recognition in the "Tar Wars" anti-tobacco poster contest sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians, when the each walked away with Special Recognition awards.
"This to us was very unique because they are from a small school in a small rural town," the boys' father, Barry Joyner, who is pastor of First Baptist Church in Dubach, said.
