Jericho Jones earns promotion
The National League franchise elevated the 6-5 and 215-pound outfielder from its extended spring training program.
In 2008, his first as a professional, Jones led all Cubs short-season affiliates with a .340 batting average during 43 appearances in the Arizona Rookie League.
Prior to earning the promotion to Daytona, the native of Lewisville, Texas, had compiled a .300 average in the extended spring training program. He had his moments of inconsistency, but Cubs’ officials are hopeful the move into the high Class A league can result in production similar to that of last summer.
