Two parish men die in 'tragic accident'

Huey Dudley Smith, 73, of Simsboro, and Richard “Buddy” McFadden, 62, of Ruston, were trimming tree lines for J&H Tree Trimming company on Harper Bottom Road, located outside the city of Ruston.

“They were in a tragic accident,” Lincoln Parish Coroner Dr. Alan Herbert said. “The bucket truck turned once.”

Smith sustained massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 9:10 a.m.

McFadden, who sustained head injuries, was rushed to Lincoln General Hospital and was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m.
